Connect Storiando to ChatGPT or Claude

4 min read

You have a story saved in Storiando, and a question you want to explore in ChatGPT or Claude. Before you can ask it, you find yourself copying character notes, explaining the setting, and trying to remember which chapter summary is current.

That extra setup can interrupt a good writing session. If you already use one of those assistants, we've added a way to connect it to your Storiando stories.

The new connector gives Pro writers another place to work on the same story, alongside the support already available through Ando and Brainstorms.

What Is the Storiando MCP Connector?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's a standard that lets an AI assistant work with another app. You add Storiando as a connector in ChatGPT or Claude, then sign in with your Storiando account.

Once connected, your assistant can read your saved story when you ask. That means you can discuss a character's motivation or a chapter's direction with relevant details from Storiando, with less copying and pasting.

The connector can help you:

  • Explore a saved story: read its details, characters, locations, and chapters.
  • Apply changes you approve: update story details, character and location profiles, or chapter outlines.
  • Save chapter text: bring prose you've worked on in the chat into an existing or new chapter.
  • Start a new story: create it after you've supplied its title, genre, premise, audience, and planned length.

You still choose the direction, review suggestions, and decide which words belong in your draft.

Who Might Find It Useful?

Writers who already have a comfortable routine in ChatGPT or Claude may appreciate keeping a conversation there while working with their saved story.

Perhaps you like comparing several possible motives in a familiar chat. Or you've been revising a passage there and want to save the version you chose into Storiando. The connection helps those conversations lead back to your organized project.

The assistant's writing uses your ChatGPT or Claude subscription, and the connector's tools spend no Storiando AI credits. AI work you run inside Storiando continues to use credits as usual. You'll need Storiando Pro and an assistant plan that supports adding connectors; see Storiando's plans and the connection guide.

How It Fits With Ando and Brainstorms

Brainstorms helps you turn an early idea into a story blueprint. Its guided conversation and blueprint panel help you develop your premise, characters, locations, and chapter outline while keeping your choices visible. If you're still deciding what your story is about, that's a useful place to begin.

Ando is your companion inside a saved story. You can explore alternatives, ask about continuity, and review proposed changes beside your project. Ando shows changes in a proposal card that you can apply or reject in Storiando.

The connector supports your work from an external chat. Changes you confirm there go directly into your story, rather than becoming Ando proposal cards. Read them carefully before agreeing. If you replace a chapter's text, copy any version you want to keep first: the connector doesn't retain the previous prose.

You can choose whichever setting helps with today's task. Shape an idea in Brainstorms, discuss its development with Ando, or continue a question in your connected assistant. Your saved story stays in Storiando.

Try One Small Question

  1. Follow the connection guide to add https://mcp.storiando.com/mcp in ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Sign in with your Storiando account and ask, "Show me my Storiando stories."
  3. Pick a story and ask a focused question before making any changes.

For example:

Read Mira's character profile and the outline for chapter two. Does her decision to hide the map fit her goal? Give me two possibilities to consider, without changing anything yet.

Choose the suggestion that fits your story, or keep your original plan. If the goal itself feels unclear, try our guide to creating a main character readers care about.

Try it with one story in Storiando, and let your next question guide the session.
